The first three show Beyer Peacock Garratts operating in Sudan, New South Wales and Queensland, and the final programme shows more modern electric and diesel power at work in Britain and around the world.

Sudan [10 mins approx) Rare footage of Class 250 Garratts at work in Sudan, believed to have been filmed in the 1930s. Sound effects have been added from our library.

New South Wales [40 mins approx)  A Beyer Peacock publicity film of the class of 50 Garratts being designed, built, transported, commissioned and operate in the Australian state of New South Wales in the early 1950s. Contains extensive footage of these locos in action.

Queensland [20 mins approx)  Another Beyer Peacock publicity film, featuring examples of the 30-strong 1000 class Garratts built for Queensland Railways in 1950. Sporting an attractive red livery, these engines proved to be ideal for conditions in Queensland.

English Electric (21 mins approx)  A publicity film by GEC subsidiary English Electric showing early diesel and electric designs for Britain and several other railways around the world, both being built and in action. British classes shown include classes 08, 37, 40, 55 and 86, as well as several multiple unit classes.
