Railfilms is delighted to announce the immediate release of a new full colour 88-page volume devoted to the photographic work of Michael Rhodes. The book includes contributions from Steve le Cheminant, Vernon Murphy, Nick Dodson and of course Michael himself.

Having visited China over twenty five times Michael Rhodes’ photographs demonstrate the craft of steam railway photography at its best. Here the location, the trains and the ultimate composition combine to make one of the finest records of its type. A map in the appendix guides the reader to many of the locations that Michael has visited over the years with his companions.

Michael Rhodes is a  member of an exclusive team that has become known collectively and popularly as “The Extreme Steam Team”. Their various adventures in search of steam within China are skilfully portrayed in this new work.

The book is released as Michael Rhodes photographic skills are portrayed in a new exhibition at the National Railway Museum. Only the second time in the Museum’s history that an individual photographers work has been featured. Within the book there is a guide to the pictures on display.

Accompanying the book is a free DVD release Chinese Steam: The Final Frame. Producer and film maker Nick Dodson has travelled with the group on several of their overseas sorties. Here then is the chance to join the team “on screen” as they pursue the last steam locomotives of this fascinating and varied country.
