Mixed Traffic

Both branch and mainline needed engines that were equally competent on freight and passenger duties and it was these needs that called on locomotives that became classified as Mixed Traffic. Despite being regarded by many as too much of a compromise, these  engines appeared on British Railways in vast numbers creating impressive performance and capability statistics, Classics such as Great Western Halls, LMS Class 5s are included.    (Running time 60 minutes approx.)
