Austria
The
Austrian railway network is comprised of a highly integrated
system utilizing both standard and narrow gauge operations.
This programme takes a comprehensive look at rail
action throughout Austria including many superb winter snow
scenes in the Alps, as well as visiting some of the lesser
known areas in the East.
Both local, express, and international passenger
services and standard gauge freight are featured.
Also shown are the considerable amounts of narrow
gauge freight which still survive against all odds in 1995
conveyed by both transporter wagons and narrow gauge wagons.

traffic from Zell am See to Wõrgl, the steam
rack railway from Schneeberg, and cross border

over the scenic Brenner pass. Narrow gauge freight from Jenbach to Fugen on the scenic Zillertaler

superb but threatened Ybbstalbahn system including

Freight and passenger action on the line from Zell
am See to Krimml.
