MULL
STEAM
An
introduction to the Isle of Mull its unique steam, scenery and wildlife
MullRail
was born out of the need to convey visitors the one and a quarter miles
from Craignure Pier to Torosay Castle. To meet this objective a band of
undaunted volunteers and rail enthusiasts constructed the railway through
rock and bog so creating one of the most unique tourist experiences in the
Inner Hebrides.
Here
then, in celebration of over 20 years of operation, is the story of how
the railway was built and how, with growing visitor numbers, it continues
to provide this vital role today.
Meet
the railway’s locomotives and in part two take a ride in the cab from
Torosay to Craignure!
At
Torosay Castle there is the opportunity to experience the world-renowned
gardens in full spring majesty. Also savour the traditional atmosphere of
a traction engine rally held in the grounds in support of the Mull &
Iona Progressive Care Trust. The first event of its type ever held in the
Hebrides!
The
Isle of Mull offers an experience like no other in terms of scenery and
natural beauty and this programme introduces the viewer to the splendours
of the Isle. Take a gull’s eye view of the coastline, view wildlife,
take a glimpse at Tobermory and more.
The
Isle of Mull “..the fairest ... the first …and the rarest of them
all!”
